The first of five films that director-producer R Chandru announced through his new banner RC Studios, Father, is complete. On the occasion, Chandru launched a motion poster of the film led by Prakash Raj and Darling Krishna, the honours of which were done by Kiccha Sudeep. The motion poster provides an idea about the content of the film. A father is the only man who can sacrifice everything for you, declares the poster, also urging that the strong hands that raised one should never be forgotten.

The poster has a shot of Prakash seated on a bench, with a bag next to him and an umbrella in hand. He’s got winter clothes on and appears to be all set to take off on a journey. This visual has sparked comparison to Hemanth M Rao’s Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu, which starred Anant Nag as an elderly man with Alzheimer’s. “There is no similarity between Father and Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu. We have made a film in tune with today’s trends that will appeal to audiences,” says Chandru.

Father has been written and directed by Raj Mohan, and presents a story that Chandru liked instantly when he heard a basic plot line. “Although Raj Mohan hails from Tamil Nadu, the story he narrated struck a chord with me. I thought this was a good story that needs to be told to Kannada audiences. It delves into the bond between a father and a son and will be a feel-good movie. It’s hauntingly beautiful and emotional,” said Chandru about his latest production.

Once Krishna was on board, he recommended both Amrutha Iyengar and Nagabhushan for the film. Amrutha has worked with Krishna on Love Mocktail and Love Mocktail 2, while Nagabhushan was with the actor in Kousalya Supraja Rama. The film, principal photography of which is complete with only 2 songs pending, has been shot in Kannada, but will be released as a pan-India project in multiple languages.
