Sony LIV, in its collaboration with Windows Productions, is all set to unveil the much-anticipated digital premieres of three Bengali films – Fatafati, Lokkhi Chhele, and Haami 2. While the latter two were 2022 release, Ritabhari Chakraborty and Abir Chatterjee’s Fatafati was released earlier this year.

First in line, slated for a digital premiere on August 4, is the Fatafati. This drama chronicle of Phullora Bhaduri, a gifted tailor who challenges social conventions. Directed by Aritra Mukherjee, Fatafati not only weaves a compelling narrative but also confronts the demon of body shaming, exhorting one and all to embrace their distinctive selves.

Following suit is the enchanting Lokkhi Chhele, a compelling tale inspired by real events and masterfully helmed by Kaushik Ganguly. The film revolves around a newborn blessed with an unusual possession – four arms. Set against rural landscapes and adorned with universal themes, Lokkhi Chhele delves deep into the clutches of human superstitions and the profound sway of belief systems. It showcases stellar portrayals by Ujaan Ganguly, Aditi Marik, Ritwika Pal, and Purab Seal Acharya in pivotal characters.

Lastly, Haami 2 graces the silver screen, riding high on the wings of the unprecedented triumph of its predecessor, Haami. This sequel introduces us to a precocious eight-year-old prodigy, endowed with an uncanny flair for mathematics. As his talent evolves into a source of pecuniary sustenance for his parents, the movie ingeniously delves into the intricacies of modern-day parenting, treading the delicate balance between nurturing brilliance and safeguarding innocence. Penned and helmed with finesse by the dynamic duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, Haami 2 boasts an ensemble cast of Gargee Roy Chowdhury, Ritodeep Sengupta, Shreyan Saha, Aritrika Chowdhury, Anjan Dutt, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and the talented Shiboprosad Mukherjee himself, among others.

The digital release of Lokkhi Chele and Haami 2 will be announced later.

Shiboprosad, co-founder, Windows Production, said, “We are thoroughly excited that three of our films, which have been loved and blessed by the audience, will soon start streaming on Sony LIV. For Bengal, it's an important event that a national player is entering this market and we are proud to associate with Sony LIV. The three films are completely different from each other. While Fatafati is a heart-warming love story that deals with the issue of body positivity, Lokkhi Chhele, I feel, is one of the best films by Kaushik Ganguly till date and also the boldest film of 2022. Haami 2, on the other hand, is a sweet story of Laltu and Mitali Mondal and their sons, one of whom is a child prodigy.”

On the other hand, Saugata Mukherjee, Head of Content, Sony LIV, said, “We are thrilled to join forces with Windows Productions in bringing forth the OTT premieres of Fatafati, Lokkhi Chhele and Haami 2. In keeping with our keen focus on programming in regional Indian languages, this is a very special collaboration. Our aim is to celebrate Bangla stories and storytellers, give them a platform to showcase and reach out to audiences from across the globe.”
