Farah Khan shares the ‘funniest reason’ why Aamir Khan ditched Om Shanti Om shoot

In all the years that Bollywood has been, no number of stars have come under one roof as they have for Om Shanti Om. Farah Khan had added a special song called Deewangi Deewangi, which featured the likes of Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Jeetendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Juhi Chawla, Tabu, Kajol and Preity Zinta come together for the track. Nearly 31 stars came together for the song. While Salman made it to the shoot, Aamir backed out. Director Farah Khan has now revealed why that happened.

What did Farah say?

Farah called Aamir for the Om Shanti Om shoot but the superstar refused. He was not the first to back out but definitely refused to come to the shoot, no matter how much Farah insisted. She revealed the same during Maniesh Paul’s podcast.

What exactly happened?

Farah approached Aamir, who said he wouldn't be able to make it because he has to work on the final edits for his directorial debut film, Taare Zameen Par. Farah insisted and said that she will be done with the shoot within two hours. Aamir also insisted that he cannot make it to the shoot since he has to finish the editing. “Then he called me and said, Farah I am editing, if I leave the editing for two hours and come for the shoot, my film will be delayed for six months,” she shared. Eventually, when Farah asked him the real reason, Aamir said that he did not want to come to the shoot.

Other actors backed out too

Farah revealed that other actors backed out as well. Among them were Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who were getting married that week. For a reason unknown but believed to be the same, Amitabh Bachchan also did not make it to the movie’s sets. The lead actor of Om Shanti Om Shah Rukh Khan was going to bring Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu too.

Nonetheless, Deewangi Deewangi had many epic moments. One of them was where Salman, Saif and Dharmendra danced together, impromptu.
