Family Star - Vijay Deverakonda gets a perfect festival film for masses, family crowds

Vijay Deverakonda, who’s going through a rough patch lately with consecutive flops at the box office, gave many of his fans a reason to rejoice when he announced a collaboration with Parasuram Petla. The filmmaker, who gave him his career-changing hit Geetha Govindam, is attempting another entertainer with him titled Family Star. The project is gearing up for a Sankranthi 2024 release.

Mrunal Thakur is paired alongside Vijay for the first time in the project bankrolled by popular producer Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film’s shoot is progressing at a brisk pace and the team is sweating it out to ensure that it releases as per plan. Interestingly, this is Vijay Deverakonda’s first Sankranthi release and has already garnered immense interest from film buffs.

Officially confirming the title, the makers of Family Star released an entertaining glimpse from the film yesterday. The glimpse unfolds in the presence of a goon who underestimates Vijay Deverakonda’s ability to flex his muscles and fighting it out. He ridicules how handling a settlement is not as simple as buying onions from market, getting children ready for school.

In response, Vijay says how masculinity doesn’t come in the way of onions or dropping children for school. The massy action sequence is a feast for the star’s fans and the makers tease them with Mrunal’s ‘Evandi’ line, showcasing Vijay’s family life. In a 70-second glimpse, Vijay does the mass pleasing well, woos family crowds and confirms Family Star has all the qualities of a perfect festival film.

The competition for Sankranthi 2024 is tougher than ever before with Mahesh Babu, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh too announcing their films for the season. Yet, there’s no doubt about the popularity that Vijay and Mrunal enjoy among gen-Z. If all goes well, producer Dil Raju, who is a master at ‘manufacturing’ his films for the festival seasons, may have another hit in his kitty.
