Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda's latest movie Family Star opened in cinemas on April 5. Amazon Prime Video is the official streaming partner for the movie, which also stars Mrunal Thakur as the female lead.
As per the current industry practices, all new South Indian movies, make their streaming debut within four weeks of their theatrical debut. It remains to be seen whether Family Star will follow suit or stick to an extended theatrical run.

It's no secret that Vijay Deverakonda has a lot at stake with Family Star. He's hoping to catch a big break at the box office with this romantic comedy. The commercial performance of his recent movies hasn't shown a lot of growth in recent years.
Vijay Deverakonda's big hopes for Family Star
Deverakonda's biggest career still is Geetha Govindam, which came out in 2018. Made on a modest budget, the film went on to gross more than Rs 100 crore from its worldwide ticket sales, cementing Deverakonda's position in the Telugu film industry.
However, Deverakonda's following movie fell short of surpassing the success of Geetha Govindam. He was convinced that director Puri Jagannadh's sports drama Liger would be the movie that would help elevate his career to the next level. Instead, the 2022 film ended up becoming the biggest critical and commercial disaster in his career.
Recently talking at the pre-release event of Family Star, Deverakonda revealed that he was uncompromising on his ambition to deliver a movie that will earn Rs 200 crore at the box office.
Director Parasuram, who both wrote and directed Geetha Govindam, has helmed Family Star. Based on the trailer, the film promises a feel-good family drama, albeit presented in a familiar template.
