Vijay Deverakonda, who only had a single release in 2023, Kushi (streaming on Netflix), is likely to be seen in two films in the coming year. He’s currently working on Family Star, directed by Parasuram Petla, in which he’s paired opposite Mrunal Thakur; he’s also part of VD 12, Gowtam Tinnanuri’s spy drama, which also stars Sreeleela.
The Arjun Reddy star is now in the US, shooting for Family Star, as part of a schedule that began earlier this month. The actor’s images, where he’s calmly enjoying his cuppa at a cafe in New York, went viral today. Sporting a white shirt and a peach-coloured pant, he’s all smiles while also accepting a few selfie requests from fans.
Recently, the actor also charmed film buffs at a fan meet organised in the city. The teaser of Family Star was played at the iconic Times Square this week as well. The film is nearing completion and the post-production formalities are also expected to commence soon. While Dil Raju hinted in a recent interaction that the film may release in March 2024, the producer has yet to officially confirm a release date.
Family Star also features Majili actresses Divyansha Kaushik and Ajay Gosh in crucial roles. Apart from Vijay and Parasuram, other crew members from Geetha Govindam’s team, including veteran editor Marthand K Venkatesh and composer Gopi Sundar, are also part of Family Star. KU Mohanan cranks the camera for the film. AS Prakash is the art director.
Vijay’s other film, VD 12, is a period spy/cop drama that unfolds in a port city and the star revealed he fell in love with the script at the time of its launch. There are high hopes for Gowtam Tinnanuri after the award-winning Jersey. The film is produced by S Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.
