Telugu films that stay true to the conventions of the crime-thriller genre sans any dilution are a rarity. Suhas-starrer Family Drama, scripted and directed by a debutant Meher Tej, attempts to break new ground in this genre. The Telugu film is all set to premiere on SonyLIV on October 29. Apart from Suhas, the film stars Teja Kasarapu, Pooja Kiran, Anusha Nuthula, Shruti Meher and Sanjay Ratha in key roles. Chashma Films and Noothana Bharathi Films have produced the thriller.
Suhas is cast in the role of a psychopath who is on a killing spree. The unusual histrionics and behavioural patterns of the character make for an interesting watch in the trailer. The film is a tale revolving around two youngsters who don't share a cordial rapport with their parents and try to get out of their hellish situation by hook or crook. Family Drama talks of harsh realities within households and focuses on the darker side of interpersonal relationships. The film promises to be a roller-coaster ride of emotions, suspense, crime and drama.
The director Meher, who claims to be an avid fan of Alfred Hitchock, has previously collaborated with Suhas for several short films. He has consciously picked actors with a theatre background for Family Drama. "Audiences can expect a unique, engaging crime thriller. This is a film that can be watched with your families too," he assures. The film is presented by Ram Veerapaneni of Mango Mass Media. Ajay and Sanjay have composed the score for the same. SonyLIV has also released Telugu films like Itlu Amma, Priyuraalu, Vivaaha Bhojanambu in the last few months.
