Challenging Star Darshan's relationship with the media has been a dicey one. The actor, who is both famous and infamous for his bluntness, has often found himself sparring with print and TV media and the last few months, in particular, have been the most eventful phase of this mercurial relationship.
Regardless, the DBoss' many million fans have stood by him through thick and thin and ensured that remains on the pedestal, helping him retain his position as one of the most popular and bankable stars of Kannada cinema. The actor's equation with the surrounding media, however, still requires some mending.
However, in a rather peculiar turn of events, an open letter written by Darshan has now gone viral on the internet. The letter does not emerge from any of the superstar's official social media handles, mind you, but with it carrying both his letterhead and his signature, many are led to believe it to be authentic, after all. The rest, however, feel that the open letter is a FAKE document which is now getting circulated on the internet.
Here's what the Challenging Star's open letter reads:
"In Kannada cinema, which boasts a 75-year-long history, only a select few select names and personalities manage to remain indelible and immortal. In this vein, stalwarts like Dr. Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Ambarish, Shankar Nag, Thugudeep Srinivas, Balakrishna, Dinesh and their contemporaries have been highly regarded by the people of Karnataka; the media, too, has accepted them and encouraged them. And as someone who came from the family of the revered actor Thoogudeepa Srinivas, I was similarly blessed and encouraged by the media. The same media also critiqued my performances and also pointed out the flaws in them. As a result, I will strive hard to pick good films in the future and be mindful of the same flaws in my roles.
Speaking of flaws, I must say that in my personal life, I have spoken or lashed out impulsively. Therefore, I regret the pain I have caused my friends in the media fraternity.
Life is very precious and short. While this lasts, let's all live happily.
I would want these sentiments of mine to be respected by both the media and my fans."
Well, could the Kranti actor be actually extending his hand to call a truce with the media? Or, as many already claim vehemently on social media, could the letter be fake or be part of some kind of mischief? Regardless, with the note now gone viral, one can expect Darshan himself to address this in some form or the other. More updates to follow.
