Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil, whose last film was Malayankunju a few months ago, will have several much-anticipated releases this year. The top film in the list would be Dhooman, which will be his collaboration with KGF and Kantara producers Hombale Films.

The movie, which is helmed by Lucia director Pawan Kumar, had kicked off the shoot in October and Fahadh on Thursday had wrapped up his portions. Apart from Fahadh, the movie also has National Award-winner Aparna Balamurali and Roshan Mathew as part of the cast.

Dhoomam will mark Hombale Films’ first Malayalam project and in an earlier interview with India Today, Karthik Gowda had said that the movie will be a time thriller – “a race against time”. There were rumours that the team had Fahadh in the script that Pawan had written for Puneeth Rajkumar, before his untimely passing. Karthik, however, denied this and said that Dhoomam is a completely new idea.

The movie, which will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, has subtitlist and scripwriter Vivek Ranjit penning its dialogues. Soon after Fahadh’s last day on the sets, Vivek, who has also written the script for Nivin Pauly’s upcoming movie Thaaram, tweeted, “Was such a fabulous experience to finally work with him (Fahadh) after being friends for over 12 years… can’t thank him enough for giving me this opportunity.”

Meanwhile, Fahadh is next expected to join the sets of Sukumar’s Pushpa: The Rule, which has Allu Arjun in the lead. The Vikram actor had considered dropping out of the movie due to scheduling conflicts last year, but was persuaded by the makers through contractual obligations and a fat paycheck, we hear, to reprise his part as Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat IPS in the sequel of the blockbuster.

In Malayalam, the actor will join the shoot of Hanuman Gear by April 2023, which is also when his film Pachuvum Athbhuthavilakum is set to release in theatres.
