Compared to most of his peers in the Malayalam film industry, Fahadh Faasil has always maintained the strategy of limited releases per year. This also boils down to the actor being in no hurry to sign projects till they excite or challenge him. This year, however, the actor has a relatively busier schedule, with him already being part of two big releases and working in two more – Pushpa 2 and Aavesham.
Last month, the actor was in Bengaluru shooting for action scenes for the latter, which is helmed by Jithu Madhavan, who had previously directed the superhit Romancham. Fahadh plays the role of a goon, who is approached by college students to tackle the challenge of ragging in their institution.
Fahadh, who is also co-producing the movie with Nazriya Nazim and Anwar Rasheed, will be seen in a different avatar in the film that has action and comedy. In a recent exclusive chat with OTTplay, Fahadh said, “It’s an exciting movie. It has me doing something that I have never done before.”
Initially, the makers were mulling a Christmas release for the film. But that seems to be postponed. “We are planning an early 2024 release, hopefully,” says Fahadh.

Meanwhile, the actor is also set to reunite with his Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum co-star Althaf Salim for a romcom later this year. “I will start work on that by November this year,” says the Maamannan actor, adding that its release will only be after Aavesham.

Fahadh has currently also wrapped up his portions for Sukumar’s much-awaited sequel of the Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa. Though Fahadh’s role as Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat IPS only had limited time in the first film, Pushpa 2 revolves around the confrontation between his and Allu Arjun’s characters. The movie is expected to hit theatres by the end of this year and will be released in several languages.
The Malayalam star has also given the greenlight for Hanuman Gear, which is directed by Sudheesh and has him essaying the role of an off-road driver.
