Mollywood actor Fahadh Faasil, in an extensive statement shared on his social media page on Wednesday night, addressed all the queries that the media had been hounding him for in the past few weeks. From Malik’s OTT release to seven years of Bangalore Days, the actor wrote in detail about each of these in a candid post.
He began the statement by throwing light on the injuries he sustained after the fall he had while shooting for Sajimon’s Malayankunju in March. “I was also undergoing recovery from my accident… So, in my calendar the lockdown started from March 2. My doctors said it was ‘close’. As a defence mechanism, my hands touched the ground before my face, which in 80% of the cases the victims fail to do because of the trauma and depth of the fall. I was lucky I didn’t lose my presence of mind, my doctor added. There again, I was lucky in life for the Nth time,” wrote Fahadh, adding that he has three evident stitch marks from the accident.
Fahadh then also confirmed the OTT release for his much-awaited period drama, Malik, which is directed by Mahesh Narayanan. “Unlike my recent OTT release, which were planned for home viewing right from the beginning, Malik was designed for a theatrical release and it was the only film I had ready when theatres would open to 100%... In all honesty, I cannot wait for the theatres to regain normalcy but today every individual is fighting to regain normalcy in their respective space. At this point all I can take responsibility for is an absolute fresh theatrical experience when I see you all in theatres next,” wrote the Joji and Take Off actor.
The Kerala State Award winner, who will next be working on Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, also spoke about Bangalore Days, which completed seven years on May 30 this year. He met wife Nazriya on the sets of the Anjali Menon directorial. The movie brings back “so many good memories”, he wrote.
“Falling head over heels for Nazriya, beginning my life journey with her… I shot Bangalore Days along with two other films. It’s just suicidal to shoot three films at a time. I used to look forward to returning to shoot Bangalore Days. I loved being around Nazriya… There was a lot that she had to give up for choosing me. It absolutely worried me and I kept fluctuating. It’s just when I thought it was all going to be over because I am not strong enough, she said, ‘Hello method actor, who do you think you are? It’s just one simple life. Pack your bags with everyone and everything you need’,” he revealed. “We have been married for seven years. Even now, when I leave the TV remote in the bathroom, she asks with the same conviction, ‘Who do you think you are?’… We work together. We spoil each other. We back each other. We are a team no matter what.”
Fahadh also talked about evolving through the years. “Doing a film like C U Soon directly for OTT, I believe, has only increased the scope for theatrical experience. Even after changing my major, I dropped out of school. I think it’s only because I did this, I haven’t given up the basic process of learning. It made me brave enough to say I don’t know. I would have hated learning if I continued learning something I didn’t enjoy. Pretty much all my small achievements are after I started sharing my life with Nazriya… I wonder what my life would have been if Nazriya didn’t feel strong about us,” he wrote.
The actor ended the statement on a hopeful note. “All endings are beautiful beginnings to another story. Sometimes you own or you are a part of someone else’s story. But remember we all have a part to play. This is indeed a difficult time for all of us. This too will soon end for a new beginning,” he wrote.
Till the time of publishing this article, OTTplay has learnt that the producer of Malik has not signed the OTT deal for Malik.
