Mollywood actor Fahadh Faasil seems to be all the rage currently. Having portrayed a variety of roles, the actor was back to dazzle audiences again through the Malayalam film Joji. Directly released on Amazon Prime Video on April 7, Joji has met with positive reviews.
Joji brings together the successful trio of Faasil, director Dileesh Pothan and writer Syam Pushkaran. Raking up the views on Amazon Prime Video, Joji presents a unique take on William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The film is set in the COVID-19 era and portrays the themes of greed and lust for power in the current world.
Faasil plays the role of the titular character who is an engineering dropout. He’s the youngest son of an affluent family and dreams of becoming extremely wealthy. This ambition drives him to greed and the plot of the film follows Joji executing his plans to become rich following an unexpected event in his family.
The actor has played many memorable characters in his career, like that of Mahesh in Maheshinte Prathikaaram, which was also directed by Pothan and written by Pushkaran. But when he was asked where he ranks his role as Joji among all his portrayals, the actor told bollywoodlife.com that he found the character extremely challenging to embody.
“I took a long time to crack Joji as a character, it’s definitely my toughest role till date,” said Faasil, adding that Faasil also stated that he found this shoot tougher than his previous movie with Pothan.
The actor’s hard work and dedication has paid off, with critics raving about his performance in Joji. The film has been produced by Bhavana Studios in association with production houses Fahadh Faasil and Friends, and Working Class Hero. The crime drime film also stars Baburaj, Shammi Thilakan, Alistair Alex and Unnimaya Prasad.
Joji can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
