As the Formula 1 racing season of 2024 reaches mid-point, with the 12th of 24 races scheduled to be held in Britain this week, Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen is still the clear leader in the Drivers’ Championship points tally. This despite missing out on a podium finish in the last race in Austria, where Verstappen had a pole position start.

After holding on to his lead for most part of the race, in lap 64 (of a total of 71), Verstappen had a collision with Lando Norris, while defending his lead, which led to the latter having to retire. Verstappen managed to finish the race, albeit in fifth position only. George Russell of Mercedes won the race, but Verstappen still extended his lead in the Drivers’ Championship points table to a total of 237, on account of having won the Sprint in Austria.
