Max Verstappen, who is gunning for a career fourth consecutive drivers’ championship, had a good start at the Austrian Grand Prix, winning the Sprint Racing and later posting the fastest qualifying time (1m: 04.314 secs) as well to secure pole position for the Grand Prix on June 30. Verstappen beat Lando Norris by four-tenths of a second to ensure his 8th pole position start of the 2024 season. The flying Dutchman, who has won 7 of the 10 races so far, started from the front of the grid in 5 of them.
On June 30, Verstappen will retain his pole position provided he is not penalized by race stewards, having been placed under investigation for driving too slow at the pit exit. As of now, the drivers in the top 10 include Lando Norris, George Russell, Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri, Sergio Perez, Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon.

Following the Austrian Grand Prix, the 12th race of the season will head to Great Britain. This mid-season event will be held between July 5 and 7. Verstappen, who has won the Austrian Grand Prix four times and is the hot favourite to win the drivers’ championship yet again, is expected to take the chequered flag. He is currently leading the points table with 227 points. Lando Norris is way behind at 156, and has to fight off Charles Leclerc who has 150 points. Red Bull Racing is currently leading the Constructors Championship.
