In 2020, Netflix released an original action flick with Australian hunk Chris Hemsworth at the helm, which, soon enough, became the most watched original film on the platform. The streamer, of course, did not need much convincing, then, to return with a sequel, although Chris’ character Tyler Rake had suffered fairly serious wounds at the end of the first film. In fact, the official synopsis of the sequel reads, “After barely surviving his grievous wounds from his mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Tyler Rake is back, and his team is ready to take on their next mission.”

Ahead of the film’s release, Chris took to social media to share an exclusive clip from the film, which takes place on a running train that is being targeted by a group of baddies on a helicopter. This, of course, leaves it up to Chris, as Tyler Rake, to take out these troublemakers.

I got the go-ahead to release a never-before-seen clip to my fans on social media for #Extraction2! Thanks @netflix . Now enjoy Tyler Rake kicking some ass and watch the full movie on June 16,” wrote the actor, along with a 1-minute video clip that sees him single-handedly take down a helicopter.

Meanwhile, after the trailer of Extraction 2 came out, there was a call by netizens to get the streamer to give the film a theatrical release, given the scale of the action sequences that played out. Comments ranged from, “Release this masterpiece in theatres”, “A 21-minute straight shot deserves the big screen”, “Wish this was a theatre release to watch it on the big screen” to “Extraction 2 deserves to be in theatres”, among others.

Extraction 2, which also stars Idris Elba, Olga Kurylenko, Golshifteh Farahani, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili, among many others, will start streaming on Netflix on June 16.
