It's shaping up to be an epic franchise, made possible solely by the incredible cast and crew's blood, sweat, tears, and love. The actor thanked everyone who has supported them during this journey, and here's to many more. Hemsworth gave much love to the team. He's so excited for the viewers to see Extraction 2.
Extraction, which was released in 2020, was a huge success. Tyler Rake (Hemsworth), a black-ops mercenary, was dispatched to Bangladesh to rescue a drug lord's kidnapped son. Tyler Rake was shot in the neck while shielding the infant at the end of the movie. Fans were left wondering if Tyler Rake had survived the climax.
The film was watched by an estimated 90 million households on Netflix when it was released.
Chris Hemsworth will reunite with director Sam Hargrave for Extraction 2, which is produced by Joe and Anthony Russo through their AGBO label and is based on a script written by Joe Russo, who also wrote the previous instalment.
Joe Russo was reportedly hired to write a sequel to the film, with both Sam Hargrave and Chris Hemsworth expected to return. Beyond the sequel, the Russo Brothers have stated that they hope to produce a series of films based on the world of Extraction, not just to explore some of the characters introduced in the first film, but also to potentially launch a cinematic universe. The Russo brothers were also said to be working on an origin narrative for Randeep Hooda's character Saju.
