Much before the pandemic spurred on the OTT boom and started wooing big stars, Vivek Oberoi had already established himself in the digital space, starring in the Amazon Prime Video series Inside Edge. But his latest signing Indian Police Force, which is helmed by Rohit Shetty, is his biggest OTT series yet.

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, the actor, who is also part of MX Player’s Dharavi Bank, talked about working with the ace filmmaker, known for action movies such as Singham and Simmba as well as comedies including the Golmaal franchise. In fact, that’s what appeals the most about him to Vivek as well.

“Rohit Shetty is a master storyteller,” he tells us. “Indian Police Force will be a genre-defining series for sure. What I love about Rohit is his humility and ability to adapt to the medium. Despite the massive success he enjoys, he is committed to learn, redefine and create a show of global quality and standards.”

The series, which also has Shilpa Shetty and Isha Talwar, focuses on Special Cell officer Kabir Malik from the Delhi Police. The eight-episode series, which is created by Rohit and Sushwant Prakash, is set in Rohit’s cop universe and is expected to drop on the streaming platform in 2023.

Incidentally, in a recent interaction with the media in Kochi, Vivek also talked about the third season of Inside Edge. The actor said that he is awaiting an update from the makers about it as well.

Meanwhile, Vivek is also part of another web series titled Dharavi Bank, which will begin streaming on MX Player soon. The crime thriller series, which also has Suniel Shetty and Sonali Kulkarni, is helmed by Indori Ishq director Samit Kakkad.

Vivek is also gearing up for his next Malayalam release Kaduva, which has Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. The Bollywood actor will be seen playing the role of a police officer in the ‘mass’ action entertainer, helmed by Shaji Kailas.
