Malayalam actor-filmmaker Vineeth Sreenivasan is considered one of the best young directors in the industry today. His track record – which includes superhits such as Thattathin Marayathu, Jacobinte Swargarajyam and Hridayam – proves he’s a safe bet for both producers and the audience alike.

Currently, Vineeth is basking in the success of his latest acting venture Mukundan Unni Associates, which is helmed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak, who had previously worked as his AD. The film’s visuals and aesthetics are a far cry from Vineeth’s own.

Ask him if working with other filmmakers influence his style of filmmaking and Vineeth tells OTTplay, “My updation process as a director happens while I am acting in films helmed by others. After Malarvady Arts Club, I acted in Traffic, Chappa Kurishu and Padmasree Bharat Saroj Kumar, and then directed Thattathin Marayathu. But Chappa Kurishu was a huge breakthrough experience for me. There was huge ease while I did Thattathin Marayathu.”

It was also during Chappa Kurishu that he got introduced to Jomon T John. “You start thinking about the aesthetics in terms of the visuals as well as making. So, all these experiences I get while acting will surely help me in the next film that I direct,” says Vineeth.

On his plans for his next directorial, the actor-filmmaker says that it would go on floors next year. “I have to slowly start writing, but I have an idea in mind,” says Vineeth, who has also completed shooting for Thankam, which has Biju Menon as his co-star and is scripted by Syam Pushkaran.

Meanwhile, the team of Mukundan Unni Associates recently announced a sequel for the movie, which will hit theatres in 2024. The dark comedy has Vineeth essaying the role of a narcissistic lawyer who would go to any lengths to become successful in life. Vineeth was lauded for his performance in the movie, which also has Suraj Venjaramoodu, Arsha Baiju and Tanvi Ram.
