Actor Vinay Pathak plays an interesting character in the upcoming Sonam Kapoor film Blind, which is an adaptation of a Korean film of the same name that released in 2011.
When we spoke to Vinay recently, he got candid about his character in the film.
"I play a detective who is tasked with solving a murder. I can't give away any more details about my character since it is a thriller and any information can be a spoiler."
Blind has already been made in several different languages across the world, including in India. The film was made Cantonese as The Witness, in Japanese as Mienai Mokugeki-sha, and in Tamil as Netrikann, starring Nayanthara.
So, has Vinay watched the original Korean film, and is that why he agreed to be a part of the film? "What attracted me to the film is that the script is very well written. I purposely did not watch the Korean film since I did not want a reference to the original character. I was only referring to the script to build my character. My director, Shome Makhija, also suggested that I not watch the original film since it is an Indian adaptation. So, the script was the only source material for my point of research, reference, and everything that I needed to play the character."
In the film, Sonam plays a visually-challenged police officer who is on a mission to uncover the truth behind a mysterious murder.
Sharing his experience of working with Sonam, Vinay said, "It was wonderful to work with Sonam because she is very lively and has great energy on set. She is a very intelligent actor. She does her homework well and always comes well prepared to the set. But most importantly she has an infectious smile that lights up the set. She has a fresh approach towards her work and everyone around her on set."
Blind is directed by Shome Makhija and also stars Lillete Dubey, Shubham Saraf, and Lucy Aarden. It will be available to stream on JioCinema starting July 7.
