Exclusive! Tu Zakhm Hai's Donal Bisht: The shelf life of a female actor is still lesser than a man

Actress Donal Bisht, who has made a name for herself in the world of television, is one of the protagonists of the web series Tu Zakhm Hai. Speaking about transitioning from TV to web series, Donal says that she feels constant pressure to explore and achieve everything, but adds that the shelf life of a female actor is still lesser than a man. 

On the heels of the release of the second season of the web show, Donal told OTTplay, "I have done a lot of work in television with big production houses, and have received a lot of love from the audience for the same. I deliberately took a break from TV. No matter what people say, the fact is that female actors have a limited shelf life, so I want to explore every medium, be it web series or films. If I want to be a heroine, I have to do it now, when I am young. Male Bollywood stars, like Salman Khan, are leading men in their 50s, but for women, it is all about their age. While TV is my foundation, I enjoy the creative freedom of web series."

Elaborating further, Donal said, "In any TV serial, actors continuously play the same character, episode after episode, without knowing much about where the story is ultimately headed. But when it comes to a web series, I know the entire character graph beforehand and that helps me build the character, since I know it from start to finish. Perhaps that is why I feel at times that performers get creative satisfaction from films and web series."

The story of Tu Zakhm Hai revolves around Viraj Trehan (played by Gashmir Mahajani), who takes Kavya (Donal) hostage, and how they develop a bond that leads to a twisted situation. 

Tu Zakhm Hai Season 2 is directed by Saurabh Arora, Aniruddha Rajderkar and Noel Smith. It also stars Sameer Malik, Parinita Seth, Mihir Mishra, Nehal Chudasama, and Amit Behl. The series is available to stream on MX Player.
