Be it Mayanadhi or Virus, director Aashiq Abu’s movies have always pushed the actor in Tovino Thomas and their latest outing, Naaradhan, will be no different, according to the Minnal Murali star. In a recent interview with OTTplay, Tovino talked to us about the movie, which is set to hit theatres on March 3.
The film, scripted by State Award-winning writer Unni R, has Tovino playing a journalist named Chandraprakash. Anna Ben, Sharafudheen, Joy Mathew, Dileesh Nair, Vijayaraghavan and Indrans are also part of the cast of the thriller.
On the film, Tovino told us, “It’s not a movie that follows the usual pattern; it would have been evident from the trailer. The film is about the media, and those who have worked in the industry have written it. It discusses a lot of what’s happening in our contemporary scenario. It’s a fictional story and not a critique of today’s media.”
While the actor declined to reveal more about his character, he said, “I don’t play a conventional hero in the movie, but as an actor, I had enough scope to perform. I think the movie has come out well. It’s an interesting film. The reason I have a lot of expectations about Naaradhan is because of Aashiqettan’s confidence in the movie. Also, I believe a lot in editor Saiju Sreedharan’s judgment. He too is happy with how Naaradhan has turned out.”
Meanwhile, Tovino has also wrapped up the shoot of Vishnu G Raghav’s debut directorial Vaashi, which also has Keerthy Suresh in the lead. The actor is currently shooting for Khalid Rahman’s Thallumala, which is an all-out entertainer that also has Kalyani Priyadarshan.
The actor also has actor-director Vineeth Kumar’s untitled mystery drama , which has Darshana Rajendran and Basil Joseph. The movie, which was extensively shot in Bengaluru and revolves around a group of friends, has also completed filming.
