Exclusive! Swastika Mukherjee works with Amitabh Bachchan in a courtroom thriller

Qala-star Swastika Mukherjee has no time to respite. She has been shuffling between Mumbai and Kolkata with a series of projects in Bengali and Hindi. From films to web series, the actress has been working on both media with complete command over her skills. After her performance on Paatal Lok and Qala, the actress will now be seen in a film with none other than Amitabh Bachchan. 

According to sources, Swastika plays a key character in Ribhu Dasgupta’s courtroom thriller, Section 84. Produced by Reliance Entertainment, Film Hangar, and Saraswati Entertainment in association with Jio Studios, this film will be the third collaboration between Ribhu and Big B and miniseries, Yudh, and a film, Te3n. Besides Swastika and Amitabh Bachchan, the film also features Diana Penty and Nimrat Kaur.

Earlier this year, Amitabh Bachchan took to his social media to announce that he will be working in Section 84. Along with his post, he wrote, “... a delight once again to be in the company of distinguished creative minds for this new venture, and the challenge it provokes, for me…”. He tagged Rubhu and the producers. In fact, on his blog, the actor added that the film was ‘taking a lot out of him’. “I must confess that the film Section 84 IPC is taking a lot out of me as far as the nature of the film and role is, which is why when the day work is done it does not leave you even as you set off for home .. much of it remains in the head and body and as is often the matter with the profession, it remains a pleasant disturbance..” he wrote.

The last time Amitabh Bachchan was seen in a courtroom drama was in Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s Pink in 2026.

Meanwhile, Swastika has been busy with multiple projects in Kolkata and Mumbai. She teams up with Tota Roy Chowdhury for a new web series, Nikhoj. Directed by Ayan Chakraborty, the show will be premiered on Hoichoi on August 11. The actress has also started a brand new film, Durgapur Junction, with Vikram Chatterjee, Ekavali Khanna, and others. The film is directed by Arindam Bhattacharya. This is Swastika’s second film with Arindam after Shibpur.
