It was one of the most shocking news of 2022 when, on May 29, music-celebrated Punjabi artist-turned-politician Sidhu Moose Wala was killed in broad daylight in Punjab. He was just 28 years old.

Actress Sonam Bajwa, who starred in two of his music videos, remembered the late artist, who was the first Punjabi artist to perform at the prestigious Wireless Festival.

Sonam exclusively told OTTplay, "I was an admirer of Siddhu even before we worked together, because in Punjab and in the Punjabi music industry, his contribution is huge. I always followed his work and really admired him. So, I was heartbroken when I learned about his demise, all the more because of the way he was killed. It was so brutal and hard to imagine. It's been a year, but I still cannot believe that he is no more, because every time I watch his video, lagta hai ki yeh humare saath hi. His talent was unmatched, and it was not just his music but his voice as an artist who wanted to bring change to society. His social work was also noteworthy."

She added, "Since he was a big star and a really busy artist, we were not in touch on an everyday basis. The last time we spoke was before the elections (referring to the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly elections), when we were creating promotional videos. I was down with COVID-19, so I could not respond immediately. We spoke after three days, when I was feeling a little better. He knew I was ill, so he told me to take care of myself and that we would meet once I was fine. Those were his last words to me."

She also recalled working with Sidhu on his two music videos, Jatti Jeoni Morh Wargi and Brown Shortie.

"We were in talks for another project. But somehow that did not materialise. So, we had discussed working on a bigger project together. Kisko pata tha woh humari last project hogi. He had so much to give to the music world and the artists of Punjab. No matter what, his name and work will be remembered with a lot of pride globally and by every Punjabi. He was a global star from a small village who, till the end, was deeply connected to his roots and his village," Sonam signed off.

Sonam will be seen next in the Punjabi film Carry On Jatta 3, which also stars Gippy Grewal. It will be released in theatres on June 30.
