Exclusive! Sonali Kulkarni: The variety of scripts offered to us now is fascinating

Actress Sonali Kulkarni is excited about her upcoming projects that have been lined up post the success of her latest web series, Dharavi Bank starring, which also stars Vivel Oberoi and Suneil Shetty. The National Award-winning actress says that the variety of scripts that she is being offered in recent times is quite fascinating.

Making her acting debut with the Kannada film Cheluvi in 1992, the actress has worked in multiple languages and received a lot of praise and awards for her acting, in films like Doghi, Kaccha Limbu, Mission Kashmir and Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, among many others.

Sonali told OTTplay, "A variety of scripts are coming my way and most of them are in the OTT space. It's not that I haven't been offered interesting roles in films before. I did that in the past, but now I am shooting for a web series and film simultaneously."

The actress added, "I am working on Apurva Lakhia's series Crackdown 2, in which I play an investigating officer. I am doing another project titled Half Pant-Full Pant, in which I play a South Indian mother. In another film, I play an air hostess — that one sees me play a complex character."

Apart from these, Sonali is also working on another project. The actress says that it is truly fascinating that women are finding their recognition as talent in every kind of story and character beyond any age limitations.

Taking a few examples of how actresses in the last 10 years changed the game of visibility, Sonali said, "Whether it is Priyanka Chopra, who is constantly making India proud globally; Deepika Padukone, who has a wonderful career graph from a model to a Bollywood superstar; someone like Shefali Shah and Tilottoma Shome, who are so versatile and with each project, where they get to prove their merit. They are all unstoppable."

Sonali has worked in international films; be it the Korean film Maya: The Reality, the English film 1:1.6 An Ode to Lost Love, or the Italian film Fuoco Su Di Me.

Her latest release, Dharavi Bank, which also stars Samiksha Bhatnagar, Freddy Daruwala, Luke Kenny, Chinmay Mandlekar and Hitesh Bhojra, is produced by Zee Studios. It is streaming on MX Player.
