After having started her career in showbiz as a child artiste in her father’s film ‘Saaheb’, the extremely talented actress Rupali Ganguly went onto do ‘Do Ankhen Barah Hath’. What followed after that was her extremely intense portrayal of Dr Simran Chopra, a medical intern in the medical drama ‘Sanjivani’. What really escalated Rupali’s career in showbiz was her role as the most memorable character ever in the history of Indian television. You guessed it right! We are indeed talking about her portrayal of Monisha Sarabhai in the epic serial ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’. Her ‘camara-derie’ with her onscreen mother in law (played by the veteran actor Ratna Pathak Shah) is evergreen even today; years after the serial had premiered. As of date, Rupali Ganguly is yet again ruling the roost with her extremely powerful author backed titular role of ‘Anupamaa’, a show which simply refuses to leave the topslot for some years now!

Speaking of ‘Anupamaa’, Rupali Ganguly was present yesterday at the star-studded and much-talked about ‘OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023’. She was presented with the ‘Compassionate Changemaker of the Year’ title by the well-known actress Swastika Mukherjee. Those who have been regularly following the serial ‘Anupamaa’ will be aware of the proceedings in the Shah and Kapadia household. A certain portal had also ‘claimed’ based on source news that chhoti Anu’s biological mother will turn out to be a villain and eventually the serial’s flow will eventually lead to child trafficking. When OTTplay asked Rupali Ganguly if the said ‘rumor’ is true, she was super shocked. She said, “OMG! Aisa sab kuch bhi nahi hai. There will be too much drama which will unfold in the coming episodes. But, ye sab angles nahi hai story mein” (But, these angles do not form a part in the story).
As for the ‘OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023’, after receiving the prestigious award, the extremely soft spoken Rupali Ganguly said, I am predominantly a TV actress. And as an actress, all forms of entertainment are special. But to me television is very special. I am very excited because any form of recognition, be it onscreen or offscreen, is really beautiful.”
The ‘OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023’ intends to honour and celebrate the groundbreakers and trendsetters of the entertainment industry. With Indian cinema on the cusp of remarkable transitions, it’s pertinent to honour and boost the confidence of those young minds that are bringing about the change. It’s the first edition of the awards ceremony.
