An upcoming project of Hoichoi will delve into the history of Kolkata through a treasure hunt.

After the success of Tansener Tanpura and Rudrabinar Obhishaap, Hoichoi will soon be back with a brand new franchise of a historical thrillers. The show that is yet to get a final title will feature Ritwick Chakraborty, Rajnandini Paul, Paran Bandyopadhyay and others and will go on the floors by the end of August or the beginning of September.
Meanwhile, Ritwick Chakraborty is currently busy with the promotions of Raj Chakraborty’s Dharmojuddho which also features Swatilekha Sengupta, Subhashree Ganguly, Parno Mittra, Soham Chakraborty and others. Rajnandini Paul’s performance in another Hoichoi series Sampurna has been lauded by the critics and the audience.
As per sources, the series will be directed by debutant director Surajit Chatterjee, who has been working as an assistant director for a while. The script is penned by Tansener Tanpura-fame Sougata Basu. According to sources, the story delved into the tradition of handloom in Bengal and Kolkata. The series tracks down the legacy of muslin weavers in Bengal, especially Kolkata, and how the British empire systematically destroyed craftsmanship. The series will also explore the history of the creation of Maratha Ditch and the attack of Marathas. Interestingly, writer Sougoto’s 2018 script, Alinagarer Golokdhadha, also explores the old Calcutta history.
As per sources, the show is likely to feature a young boy, who will be an integral part of the protagonist’s life. While many of the artistes will be from the Bengali group theatre circle, the casting team has zeroed in on a young newcomer as this character.
While no official announcement has been made from the platform’s end, as per our sources, Hoichoi will soon host its annual announcement press conference in September. The project is likely to be announced there.
