Mainak Bhaumik’s Behaya that went to the floors on August 26 faced trouble allegedly by members of suppliers’ guilt. The film that features Sonamoni Saha, Pratik Sen and Priyanka Sarkar in the lead has been postponed by the makers. The shooting was stopped after the vendors were reportedly threatened by the suppliers.
As per sources, a group of suppliers reportedly threatened vendors for not supplying shooting equipment. They claim that producer Rana Sarkar owes them money. Meanwhile, Rana told us, “If anyone is supposed to have any due, they can go to the court or take any legal step. What is the point of disrupting a shooting? I’m calling off the shooting. Bengal is not a suitable state to invest in because of the guild bullies. Anyway, not many people invest in Bengali films anymore. I have taken on multiple projects. If things don’t get better, I will go to some other states, like UP, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand. Production houses get subsidies there to make films.”
He took to social media to express his displeasure. On his Facebook, he wrote, “The unprofessionalism of vendors and suppliers have gone up in Tollywood. Bengali cinema will suffer further if they are not controlled.”
According to sources, while the shooting is postponed, the film is not shelved as of now. If all goes well, the shooting will start again later next month. Rana Sarkar has announced a number of projects, including Srijit Mukherji’s Lawho Gouranger Naam Re, Parambrata Chatterjee’s Barud O Adalat, and so on. Srijato’s debut film Manab Jamin is also expected to hit the theatres by end of this year. Another film Bonobibi which features Parno Mittra and Ranojoy Bishnu is also ready to release.
