Actress Priya Banerjee, who is seen in the web series Rana Naidu, started her career in 2013 with a Telugu film. This was followed by multiple projects in the South Indian film industry, not only in films but also in web series.
Rana Naidu is a Hindi language web series, starring two stars from the South. Priya, who worked in multiple languages, opens up about how starting her career with a Telugu film helped her build a strong foundation.
Priya told OTTplay, "I am very proud that I started my career with Telugu cinema, which is now catering to an international audience. They are making such good content. As a newcomer, it was a great opportunity to start my career in the Telugu industry because I got to learn a lot. They are professional and know how they want to entertain their audience. When I started out, I did not even know the language, but I was really well taken care of. People are humble and treat new talent well. I am glad that the audience liked my work there. I have also worked in Tamil films, before coming to Hindi. I feel lucky to have explored different film industries."
It is interesting to note that Priya started with the film Kiss, which was written and directed by Adivi Sesh, who also starred in it. Adivi went on to receive love pan India for his film Major, released in 2021.
Priya believes that the segregation of different mediums should not exist, and only good stories should be celebrated.
"I think it is a great time to be in the industry because everything has just merged into one, and that is how it is supposed to be. South actors are working on Hindi projects. I finished a film with a popular Bengali actor. So, yes, barriers are breaking. Everyone is coming forward to tell a good story," shared Priya.
Priya has acted in south films like Joru, Asura, Chithiram Pesuthadi 2, and web series like 8 Hours, 11 Hour. She made her debut in Hindi cinema with the film Jazbaa.
Rana Naidu is the Indian adaptation of the American series Ray Donovan, and is created by Karan Anshuman. The series also stars Suchitra Pillai, Gaurav Chopra, and Surveen Chawla. It is streaming on Netflix.
