Rakul Preet Singh starrer Chhatriwali is all set to have a direct-to-OTT release soon. The Tejas Vijay Deoskar directorial also has Sumeet Vyas, Satish Kaushik, Dolly Ahluwalia, Rajesh Tailang, Prachee Shah Paandya, and Rakesh Bedi in significant roles.
In a recent chat with OTTplay, the 32-year-old actress described the importance of her upcoming film and also elaborated on how it is different from other films on the same topics such as Janhit Mein Jaari and Helmet.
Rakul said, "We see so many thriller films, action films, and love stories, but every film is different from one another because the story of each film is different. The primary characters of the film are different, and so is Chhatriwali different from the world of the other two films. But as per content, what makes it different is that you know, we've seen films talk about safe sex, but not tell why are we advocating safe sex, how it affects the woman's health, bringing the whole education angle into it, you know, the nobody talks about how many miscarriages or abortions can a human body handle, not more than two medically, but if you see the statistics, more than two out of five women undergo more miscarriages and abortion that it's not normal. I think that is the conversation that Chhatriwali drives educating people about women's health and reinstating, that this is an important part of our being. And that's what led me to also say yes to this because I got really connected."
She further explained what made her say yes to the project and said, "It's so sad that in 2023, so many women are not even aware that there's something known as protection. They have normalized pain as a part of their existence, saying keep Metalab there too. They violate low painkillers, and miscarriages. But they don't even know there are ways to safeguard themselves from this. So that is the most beautiful part of the film that is entertaining. Being a family-driven film, it still talks about such an important aspect. And that's why I said yes to it."
Chhatriwali is all set to release on ZEE5 on January 20.
