While fans will have to wait a month more for director Shaji Kailas’ first theatrical release in five years, the Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Kaduva has already built enough hype to get not only the audience but also its cast members excited.

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Rahul Madhav, who has once again teamed up with Prithviraj and scriptwriter Jinu V Abraham for Kaduva, gave us a few hints on what to expect from the movie, which also has Vivek Oberoi, Samyuktha Menon and Arjun Ashokan as part of the cast.

“Kaduva will be a super film to watch. I am very excited about it. It’s an all-out commercial film with ‘mass’ and entertaining elements,” says Rahul, adding that he also got to do a few action scenes in the ‘mass’ entertainer set in the 90s.

On working in the film, Rahul says, “I have known Raju ettan and Jinu for a long time and so, working with them was easy. But I was most excited about collaborating with Shaji Kailas. I was brought up in Kozhikode and I still remember watching Narasimham in theatres. It was a celebration.”

The actor, who was last seen in Mamta Mohandas’ Lalbagh, also lauds how the veteran filmmaker is on sets. “He is such a wonderful and humble person. In spite of his wealth of experience, he is so accessible and communicates at our level,” says Rahul.

Kaduva, which wrapped up filming earlier this month, is a big-budget entertainer that will have Prithviraj doing a ‘mass’ entertainer after ages. The superstar and the director had earlier collaborated in Simhasanam, a decade ago.

The film was initially set for a theatrical release on Eid, but has been postponed with Prithviraj’s Jana Gana Mana releasing on April 28. Kaduva is expected to hit theatres in May 2022.
