Actress Nadiya Moidu has now made it a habit of defying stereotypes. Since her comeback in 2004 with M Kumaran S/o Mahalakshmi, the actress has been selective when it comes to picking good roles that had an impact on the film. It’s no surprise then that she’s now the first choice for many filmmakers in the South for playing strong middle-aged characters. The latest being in Anjali Menon’s segment in the upcoming anthology.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Nadiya told us that she has signed up to play a segment in an upcoming OTT anthology that will be helmed by Anjali Menon, who has helmed films such as Manjadikuru, Bangalore Days and Koode.

“I am also working with Anjali Menon for an anthology and it’s fabulous; she’s got a great script and it’s all women-based. I am really looking forward to some exciting work,” said the actress, who has been busy in Telugu the past few years being part of films such as Drushyam 2, Miss India and the upcoming film Ante Sundaraniki, which will see her sharing screen space with Koode and Bangalore Days’ Nazriya Nazim.

Last year, Nadiya was part of two direct-to-OTT Telugu releases – Keerthy Suresh’s Miss India that dropped on Netflix and Venkatesh’s Drushyam 2 that is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The actress was also part of the Amazon Prime Video’s Tamil anthology Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa. She along with Joju George had starred in Madhumitha’s segment titled Mouname Paarvayaai, in which they essayed a couple who haven’t talked to each other in years.

The actress, meanwhile, will next be seen in Amal Neerad’s Malayalam gangster thriller Bheeshma Parvam, in which she will be seen alongside Mammootty after a gap of 11 years. The film, which is set for a March 3 release, will have essaying the character of Fathima.
