In the 15 years of his career span, Mimoh Chakraborty, the son of yesteryear superstar Mithun Chakraborty, has been constantly struggling to grab the right opportunity to prove his talent. In a recent chat with OTTplay, the actor explained why nepotism does not really work in favour of any actor to build their career in Bollywood.
Mimoh told OTTplay, "I think I am the living example of how nepotism does not work, right opportunity and talent does. In my journey so far, which of course is not a small time span because it's been 15 years since I made my debut in Bollywood, I am treated unfairly because I did not get the right kind of opportunity. On one hand, I was removed from films, on the other hand, people refused to give me any opportunity due to the lack of hit films that I could not deliver. My only commercially successful film was Hunted 3D. I have given several auditions standing in the queue because I wanted to make it on my own. People did not even bother to revert after my audition; at least they could have said to me that they did not like me, ghosting people is more heartbreaking."
"I think the term nepotism is overused and star kids, especially those who are successful, get an unwanted hatred. We do not choose our parents, and we are proud of the achievement of our parents. Today, when people call Alia Bhatt or Ranbir Kapoor a nepo-kid, do they not notice the fine actors that they are?" added the actor.
In the past, Mimoh acted in films like Loot, Enemmy, Ishqedarriyaan, and short films like Holy Smoke!, and Ab Mujhe Udhnaa Hai to name a few.
When the actor got the opportunity to be part of the upcoming film through audition, asked about if he got any encouragement from any members of the film fraternity, Mimoh shared an anecdote.
"Salman bhai (referring to Bollywood actor Salman Khan) and Daddy are close friends. I remember, one day bhai told me that 'Mimoh you are one of those strugglers who could not even get a chance to struggle properly because of lack of opportunity.' But he also mentioned that 'do not give up, I respect your spirit!' Coming those words from Bhai was motivating. I always wanted to do things without taking any help from my family...it takes more time but I am on my journey," said Mimoh.
In Jogira Sara Ra Ra, the actor plays a character named Lallu who is the groom of Dimple who does not want to marry him. How an incident brings a twist in the tale sets the basic storyline of the film.
The film, which also features Neha Sharma and Sanjay Mishra, releases on April 12 in the theatre.
