Drishyam director Jeethu Joseph will be teaming up with Asif Ali for the first time in the upcoming movie Kooman, which is set to go on floors later this month. The team had revealed a motion poster of the movie – featuring the titular owl in the dead of the night in the wild while a man makes a run for it in the backdrop.

Ask Jeethu about the film which has a tagline The Night Rider, the filmmaker tells us, “It’s a thriller and Asif has a unique character in the film. I can’t reveal anything more about the role or the movie at the moment.”

The film also has Baburaj, Renji Panicker and Jaffar Idukki as part of the cast. “We are yet to finalise the lead actress,” says the director. Unlike his previous films Drishyam 2 and 12th Man, the movie will have a lot of live outdoor locations. “We are planning to begin the shoot by February 24 with Palakkad, Marayoor and Pollachi being the prime locations,” he says.

Incidentally, Jeethu is also busy with the post production of the Mohanlal-starrer 12th Man, which will release on an OTT platform. “We are almost done with the post production and the teaser of the film will be out soon,” explains the filmmaker. KR Krishnakumar, who has scripted 12th Man, has also penned the screenplay for Kooman, which has Satheesh Kurup as its cinematographer and debutant Vishnu Shyam as its composer.

Meanwhile, Asif has a host of projects lined up for release. The actor has completed shooting for Rajeev Ravi’s investigative thriller Kuttavum Shikshayum, Sibi Malayil’s political drama Kotthu, Jis Joy’s untitled thriller and Abrid Shine’s Mahaveeryar, which also has Nivin Pauly in the lead.

He is also part of Nishanth Sattu’s psychological thriller A Ranjith Cinema and Sethu’s Maheshum Maruthiyum, which has Mamta Mohandas in the lead.
