Actor Barun Sobti is gearing up for the release of his next web series, Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke - a cop drama revolving around a female IPS officer named Kavya Iyer (played by Regina Cassandra). As the show sheds light on a man-woman equation in marriage and parenting based on the choice that a woman makes, the actor opens up with his thoughts on the matter.
In the show, Barun plays Sameer, the husband of Kavya who is trying to make his wife understand the balance between professional and family life due to her demanding job as an IPS officer, which keeps Kavya away from her child and husband.
Guilt is something that every working woman, especially a mother, feels. So, when we asked Barun's opinion on the same, he said, "I think there are some stupid fundamental things that are set by the society that men are the breadwinners of the family and women are supposed to take care of the family and children. I think it is a very regressive thought. Even if there is any competition, what a woman does for a family and for her professional life cannot be compared with a man does."
"Making it a rule that men are meant to be breadwinners of the family is a disservice to both men and women. So, through the show, while we get to see how the defense service works in the country, the equation between Sameer and Kavya is a very progressive relationship that I hope our audience understands," the actor further added.
Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke is directed by National Award-winning film director Srijit Mukherjee, also stars Regina Cassandra, Sumeet Vyas, Gayathri Shanker, Deepika Amin and Sandeep Dhabale, among others. It will be available to stream on ZEE5 and OTTplay on January 26.
