Every time brothers Indrajith Sukumaran and Prithviraj Sukumaran teamed up, they have never failed to leave a mark with their respective performances – be it Classmates and Veettilekkulla Vazhi or Amar Akbar Antony and Tiyaan. Their upcoming film Theerpu promises to continue that trend.
In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Indrajith talked about working with Prithviraj again after the latter’s directorial Lucifer. “It was nice. It’s not that we had a lot of combination sequences in the film. I am sure that it will be a different experience for viewers too,” says the Kurup actor, who was set to team up with Prithviraj for Irshad Parari's Ayalvashi before the pandemic.
The filming of Rathish Ambat directorial was completed earlier this year. This marks the third time Prithviraj and Indrajith are collaborating for a Murali Gopy script after Tiyaan and Lucifer. “It’s a genre that hasn’t been tried and tested in Malayalam. It’s more on the lines of dark humour. All the characters and setting are different, and Murali has also not tried it before,” says the actor.
Indrajith, meanwhile, also worked with Rathish recently in a segment titled Kadalkaattu from the Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories. The feature, which completed shoot last week, has him along with Aparna Balamurali and Ann Augustine.
“Rathish is a brilliant director,” Indrajith says, of the Kammarasambhavam filmmaker. “On the sets of Kadalkaattu, he also showed me the trailer of Theerpu and it looks really nice.”
Indrajith will be seen as a cop in Theerpu, which also has Saiju Kurup, Vijay Babu, Isha Talwar and Hannah Reji Koshy. The movie is produced by Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House and is touted to be the production house’s biggest project yet.
