Hina Khan – who became a household name with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai – will soon be seen investigating murder mysteries while fighting legal cases in court in an upcoming web series. As per sources, this series will be directed by a Bengali filmmaker, who has been exploiting the pulp fiction genre through his work.

Director Abhirup Ghosh has worked on a number of Bengali pulp fiction projects, including the Rohoshyo Romancha Series with Sourav Das, Rudranil Ghosh, Kanchan Mullick, and others. His web series Byadh on Hoichoi garnered critical acclaim. According to sources, the director will now take a step forward and direct a Hindi web series for Disney+ Hotstar with Hina as the protagonist.

As per sources, Abhirup will make a series based on pulp fiction writer Amit Khan’s series of his character, Reeta Sanyal. The character Reeta Sanyal is a lawyer who also solves murder mysteries for her cases.  According to sources, Hina Khan will play Reeta Sanyal. “It is going to be a vibrant, colourful and stylised series,” said a source.

The screenplay and dialogue writings are on. Meanwhile, the casting talks for other characters are also going in full swing. If all goes well, the shooting may begin in August.

Besides her TV and film work, Hina has worked in a web show, Damaged – a mystery crime thriller created for Hungama Play. Meanwhile, most of Abhirup’s Bengali works are in the Pulp fiction genre. The series, which is yet to be named, is said to have an ‘outlandish’ look and feel.
