After a slew of intense roles in movies such as Malik, Pushpa, Vikram and Malayankunju, Fahadh Faasil will return to the romcom genre with Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela director Althaf Salim’s next.
The film’s producer Ashiq Usman had earlier announced that the movie will go on floors this year. Now, a source from the team revealed further details about the upcoming movie. “It’s a proper entertaining romantic comedy,” says the source.
Fahadh was last part of a comedy in Sathyan Anthikad’s Njan Prakashan, which was released in 2018. “It’s been a while since he has done such a movie. This is also a genre that Althaf was comfortable with and that’s how planned the project. Fahadh too wanted to do a similar movie, so it all just came together,” says the source.
The actor is yet to finalise the dates for the movie. “Once that is done, the team will make an official announcement,” adds the source. “The rest of the cast as well as the locations will also be planned only after Fahadh confirms his dates.”
Althaf made his directorial debut in 2017 with Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela, which had Nivin Pauly, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Shanthi Krishna and Lal as part of the cast. Althaf, meanwhile, will also be seen in Alphonse Puthren’s upcoming movie Gold, which has Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara as part of the cast.
Incidentally, Fahadh is also scheduled to work on Alphonse’s next film Paattu, which is a musical entertainer that was supposed to go on floors in 2020. The pandemic, however, resulted in scheduling conflicts between the actor’s other projects.
Fahadh, who was part of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise, will next be seen in Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathy-starrer Vikram in Tamil and Sajimon Prabhakar’s survival thriller Malayankunju in Malayalam. He is also part of Mahesh Narayanan’s segment Sherlock in the Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories.
