Exclusive! Eken Babu Season 7: Satyam Bhattacharya joins Anirban Chakrabarti’s new season of the show

Hoichoi is all set to bring back the seventh season of Eken Babu with Anirban Chakrabarti as the lead character. Suhotra Mukhopadhyay and Somak Ghosh will play Eken Babu’s inseparable friends Bapi Babu and Pramatha Babu respectively. Every season, the show brings new characters and this time, Satyam Bhattacharya will be one of the key characters in the show. Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, the show will go on the floors on September 19.

According to sources, the shooting of season seven may take play in North Bengal. Besides Satyam, Anirban, Suhotra, and Somak, the show will also feature Arpan Ghoshal, Sahana Sen, Bodhisattwa Majumdar, Ashim Roy Chowdhury, and others. 

This will be a reunion of a sort on the set as Satyam, Somak, and Suhotra have been friends for a long time. While Satyam and Suhotra worked together in Tansener Tanpura, the Ballavpurer Roopkotha-actor worked together with Somak in their theatre group HypoKrites. On Tuesday, Satyam told OTTplay, “I just got the offer last night and still reading the script. I am glad I will be able to work with two of my friends.” The actor will also work in another web series by Rahool Mukherjee.

Hoichoi is all set to announce a series of shows – fresh and new seasons – in September. According to sources, a number of shows, including Parambrata Chatterjee’s paranormal thriller, the seventh season of Eken Babu, Indu 3, the second season of Ghobir Joler Mach, and the second part of Nikhoj, will be announced at the event. In fact, Joydeep is scheduled to direct another web series with Ambarish Bhattacharya. Billed as a courtroom drama, the actor will play the character of a simpleton lawyer.
