While Dhyan Sreenivasan’s directorial debut didn’t quite turn out as expected, as the filmmaker himself recently admitted, it hasn’t stopped him from experimenting with his scripts. For his latest script Prakashan Parakatte, which is a coming-of-age entertainer starring Mathew Thomas and Dileesh Pothan in the lead, the actor-filmmaker has tried out a new concept, he tells exclusively to OTTplay.
The movie, which is set to hit theatres on June 17, is directed by debutant Shahad Nilambur. Dhyan tells us, “It’s about a friendly father and son duo, who share a close relationship. The youngster has all the freedom with his father to open up.”
On how the script is different from his previous films such as Love Action Drama and Goodalochana, Dhyan says, “In Prakashan Parakkatte, every scene is written as a one-to-one conversation – between the father and son, the mother and father, the mother and son and so on, because it’s ultimately about the one-to-one bonding between the characters.”
Further on the film, the actor says, “It’s about the migration that happens from a small town to a city. Mathew’s character, who is 17-18 years of age, dreams to going to a new place. So, it’s about how people from villages, who dream of working in cities. It talks about their aspirations.”
The movie, which also has Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese and Dhyan in supporting roles, was completed almost a year ago. “We were waiting to release it because movies like RRR and Beast were scheduled. We are happy it’s finally coming out on June,” he says.
Dhyan, meanwhile, has also completed shooting for Khali Purse of Billionaires and Aap Kaise Ho?, which he also co-written. His fifth script 9MM, which is an action-entertainer starring Manju Warrier, is expected to go on floors by the end of this year.
