Exclusive! Deepika Padukone opens up on being the more experienced actor on Gehraiyaan sets

Deepika Padukone, who has worked in the industry for nearly 15 years now, is all set to be seen with fresher faces aka Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa in Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan. The actor, however, doesn’t have any qualms about the same and instead, while talking to OTTplay, Deepika shared that she tried to make her co-stars as comfortable as possible. The actor said that she ensured to make filming a ‘fun experience’ for everybody involved.

“It's not like I went on to set thinking every day that I am the most experienced person on set. I walked onto set everyday making it making sure that it's just a pleasant and a fun experience a memorable experience for everybody,” she shared.

This is Deepika’s first time working with Siddhant, who is also just one-film old (Gully Boy). Ananya, on the other hand, has already given films like Student Of The Year 2, Pati Patni Aur Woh and Khaali Peeli.

Talking about working with such co-stars, Deepika added, “So yes, I mean, I am aware that the actors that I'm working with are relatively new, you know, maybe just two or three films old, while I've been around 15 years, so yes, of course I was aware of that. But at the same time, I would do everything that I could and hopefully I succeeded in making them not feel that, you know, and in making them feel like I was with any other co-star and making them feel extremely as comfortable as possible.”

Gehraiyaan is a story that deals with the complications of love and life. While Deepika plays the role of Alisha Khanna, Ananya plays her cousin Tia. Siddhant, who plays the role of Tia’s fiancé Zain Siddiqui, enters their life and things complicate.

The Shakun Batra directorial has opted for a direct-to-OTT release. Thus, Gehraiyaan, also starring Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor in pivotal roles, will release on Amazon Prime Video on February 11.
