Ajay Bahl’s directorial Blurr might be getting mixed reviews from the critics and the audience but one thing nobody can deny is Taapsee Pannu’s brilliant performance in the film. In a special conversation with OTTplay, Ajay opened up on his challenges of making a thriller and how he admires Taapsee all the more, for her dedication and sincerity toward work.
Ajay told OTTplay, "As cliche as it may sound but it was really such a joy working with Taapsee. There is a deep sense of sincerity that she has and she is highly committed, yet she does everything with a smile. Making a thriller is not an easy task and for an actress, it could be emotionally exhausting because when you are shooting something, you are doing it in pieces. Bringing the same level of emotional intensity in each scene and maintaining the emotional continuity can drain out all the energy from a performer but Taapsee managed to do it all."
He further added, "This film was all the more challenging for Taapsee because she not only played a double role in it but also half of the film she was blindfolded for hours. We did not do any cheating because we wanted to capture the real vulnerability of the character, so she was blindfolded for real. It was tough for her as she had to completely trust her instinct, me and our DOP. I have a huge respect for Taapsee after working with her in the film."
The story of the film revolves around a murder investigation done by Gayatri who is in search of the truth behind the death of her twin sister Gautami. The twist is that Gayatri is also losing her eyesight. The film is an Indian adaptation of the award-winning Spanish film Julia's Eyes.
Ajay has earlier directed films like B.A Pass and Section 375. The latter starred Richa Chadha and Akshaye Khanna in the lead roles.
Blurr also features Gulshan Devaiah, Kruttika Desai Khan, Abhilash Thapliyal, Sorabh Chauhan, Nitya Mathur, Sumit Nijhawan in pivotal roles. It is streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium.
