Fans of Shahid Kapoor can't keep calm as they gear up to watch their idol in action in his new film, Bloody Daddy. Ahead of its release, the actor opened up to OTTplay about working with director Ali Abbas Zafar, who has made successful action films with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
When we asked Shahid to share his biggest learnings from working with Ali, he said, "I learned a lot of things from Ali. He is technically a very knowledgeable guy and has an in-depth understanding of action. This helped since Bloody Daddy is my first out-and-out action film. Ali has a very good action team, and I need to especially mention his steady-cam operator, Bablu. He and his entire team are superb. You see, action is a genre in which, unless you have the right team, things will not fall into place. Since Ali has a great team, the collaboration and constant learning from them were really exciting for me."
The Jab We Met actor also said that Ali and his entire team prepare extensively before shooting, which he thinks is a great approach.
"That process helped all of us in terms of saving time and energy, because for an action film, you can feel burned out after a week. And if you are exhausted, it will naturally affect your performance. But because of Ali and how intelligently he used all of our collective energy in the right measure, we finished shooting a feature film within 36 days," shared Shahid.
Bloody Daddy is the Indian adaptation of the French film Sleepless Night. The story revolves around an NCB officer named Sumair and a drug lord. It is set one night in the Gurgaon-NCR area.
Shahid plays a father in the film and pointed out that emotions play a special role in the narrative of the film. "Ali's film is all about emotions, so even his action sequences are driven by heightened emotions. He has pushed this further with Bloody Daddy, and the audience will see how this time the film is more raw, rugged, edgier, and pretty close to reality," said Shahid.
Bloody Daddy also stars Ronit Roy, Sanjay Kapoor, and Rajeev Khandelwal. It will be available to stream on JioCinema starting June 9.
