Avinash Sachdev has been the darling of millions, courtesy his acting skills in shows like ‘Karam Apnaa Apnaa’, ‘Chotti Bahu’, ‘Ayushman Bhava’, ‘Main Bhi Ardhangini’ and others. His entry in the controversial Bigg Boss OTT 2 show raised many eyebrows as he was ‘pitted’ against his ex-girlfriend Palak Purswani, who was also a contestant in the show. Even though many expected fireworks between them, but nothing of this sort happened. Even though Palak was evicted in the early few weeks, Avinash got evicted recently.
In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Avinash Sachdev spoke to us about his ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’s journey so far, his present-day relationship status with Palak Purswani and much, much more. Over to you, Avinash…
To start with, how are you feeling right now? Is there a sense of fulfilment of having participated in India’s biggest reality show or the feeling of so near yet so far?
That’s the feeling you are giving me now (laughs). I am completely satisfied with my journey inside the Bigg Boss OTT 2 house. Except for some trolling of some fans following their stars, rest of the social media comments have been extremely good. Ditto from the ones who are my near and dear ones. And that’s what matters to me the most because they are the ones who always give me a reality check… on my face! I have left a mark on the show called ‘Bigg Boss’. That’s what I have been told. If I had crossed any kind of barriers on the show, my parents would have been questioned about the same. But, the very fact that no one questioned them about anything proves my game on the show. Everyone told my parents that he played his game keeping his dignity intact.
There was a time during the show when Elvish and Abhishek were seen and heard discussing your game plan and your strategy. They said that, what you basically do is that, even though you may not abuse, you will drive the opposite person to such an extent that they get triggered and they lose their cool and start abusing eventually. What do you have to say on that?
All that I can say is that I entered the Bigg Boss OTT 2 house with a clean slate and zero strategy. That’s how I am in my real life. I don’t abuse in real life as well. These guys giving me bad words and me just doing ‘OKOK’ does not make me instigate them in any manner at all! Also, what Elvish was saying in his Haryanvi language was something that I did not even understand.
Who do you think is/ are responsible for your elimination?
I do not like to hold anyone responsible for my eviction. The ones who are left in the house are the YouTubers and the influencers. That’s why I have given myself a closure that, when it comes to fan following, I am not up there like these guys. But I do have my set of loyal fan following.
In that case, do you think the non-Youtubers and influencers like you were at a big disadvantage when it came to the other ones?
There is a definite layer to this. How else can one explain the eviction of Akanksha Puri, who must definitely be having more followers than me (smiles). This was also followed by Aashika. It is important to a certain point, but it is not THAT important!
Now that you know the strength of social media and the impact that the followers have on a celebrity, will we be seeing you up your social media game now?
Yes. Change is the only thing that is constant life. So, why not change! My ego won’t come in between at all. (smiles).
Did anyone play the victim card inside the house?
At one point, Bebika did play the victim card game when things went wrong between her and Jad. But she eventually stopped it because nobody paid heed to her.
There have been multiple times when Palak spoke about you after she left the Bigg Boss OTT 2 house. But you must have hardly spoken anything about her, unless and until you have been asked about her. Do you think that, despite you moving on, she is yet to move on?
That’s why I am saying to get over me and get well soon. She already has a new relationship in her life. In spite of that, I don’t know why she is holding into me till now.
Who do you think is your friend for life from the ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2 house’?
Pooja Bhatt, Falaq Naaz and Jad Hadid.
How will you describe the following Falaq Naaz in one word?
(After thinking a lot), she cannot be described in one word. ‘Best connection’ is how I would like to describe her.
While on the topic of Falaq Naaz, how much truth is there to the rumour that you had even dated her sister for a brief time?
These are just rumours.
Who do you think will be the top three contestants? And who will win the game?
Pooja Bhatt and Elvish Yadav. And, the eventual winner, I think would be Pooja Bhatt.
What about the third spot?
It can be anyone. Mujhe use kuch farq nahi padta (laughs)
Now that you have understood the ‘algorithm’ of Bigg Boss, will you do anything different in case you get offered the main format of ‘Bigg Boss?
Of course yes. I will not play T20 when I am expected to play a test match (laughs).
