Minnal Murali and Joji directors will be teaming up for an upcoming, albeit as actors. Both Basil Joseph and Dileesh Pothan have been roped in to play the leads along with Indrans and Johny Antony in a movie, which is produced by Bhavana Studios.
The film, which went on floors recently, is helmed by Bheeshma Parvam director Amal Neerad’s associate Sangeeth. Dileesh Pothan broke the news to OTTplay during a recent interview. Dileesh had worked with Basil last year in Joji, which the former had directed and had the Minnal Murali filmmaker playing the role of a priest. The untitled film will mark the first production venture of Bhavana Studios – headed by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh and Syam Pushkaran – this year.
The producers will next begin work on Thankam, which also has Dileesh in a pivotal role. The movie, which is directed by another debutant Saheed Arafath, is scripted by Syam and was supposed to go on floors in 2020 with Fahadh, Joju George, Aparna Balamurali and Dileesh playing the prime characters.
However, with the pandemic rearranging the schedules of several films, Fahadh and Joju have dropped out and Vineeth Sreenivasan and Biju Menon have been roped in instead. The movie, which is a crime drama, is set in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra is expected to go on floors soon. The makers had recently announced a casting call for Tamil actors for the movie.
Meanwhile, Dileesh was last seen in Kamal KM’s socio-political thriller Pada, which also had Kunchacko Boban, Joju George and Vinayakan. He also has Shahad Nilambur’s Prakashan Parakkatte, in which he plays the lead along with Mathew Thomas. The actor has also completed shooting for Mammootty’s CBI 5: The Brain, in which he essays the role of Kerala Chief Minister.
In a recent interview with OTTplay, the actor said that of late out of the 10 roles he has been offered, eight of them are either as a police officer or a minister, and it’s a stereotype that he is trying hard to break. Dileesh also played a politician in Bheeshma Parvam and Malik.
