Be it Asur 2 or Badtameez Dil, Barun Sobti has constantly been making a mark as a performer with every show that he has been part of in the recent past. He will soon be seen in another series, Kohrra.

When anyone mentions a love story, the standard image that comes to mind is love between a man and a woman. With June being celebrated as Pride Month across the world, it is interesting to note that the world over, there are more inclusive societies where the LGBTQIA+ community and their love stories are equally celebrated.

When we asked Barun how important it is to tell more stories of the LGBTQIA+ community in films and web series to encourage people to be more accepting, the actor said, "It is very important. It is a complex topic that needs to be dealt with with sensitivity. From the time we are young, we are told that love happens only between a man and a woman. But every individual is different, and so is their sexuality. So, the right idea is that people can be who they want to be and that they should be celebrated for who they are. Everyone has the right to make their own decisions in life and choose their love. It should reflect in our cinema as well."

So, does he have any inhibitions when it comes to playing a gay character onscreen? "Not at all. I have no hesitation when it comes to playing any character as an actor. I want to explore everything I can as a performer. I am quite childlike when it comes to my work. As an actor, I will go to any extent to explore a deeper understanding of the human mind. Also, I feel that my career will end if I have any reservations as an actor."

Badtameez Dil also stars Ridhi Dogra and is available to stream on Amazon miniTV.
