Making her debut with the Soojit Sircar director Yahaan in 2005, Minissha Lamba became a well-known name as an actress for her beautiful screen presence and performances in films like - Corporate, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Bachna Ae Haseeno, Kidnap actress Minissha Lamba took a break from acting for some time.
Now that the actress is all set to make her comeback with a new web series called Badtameez Dil, in conversation with OTTplay, she opens up on what kept her away from the screen and more...
When she was told that her fans miss her watching on-screen, Minissha told OTTplay, "I missed myself onscreen too and I am happy that I am coming back with a show like Badtemeez Dil. I and Tanvi were constantly in talks that we should work on a project together but we were looking for the right one. It was during the lockdown that he told me that we are casting for a show and can you record an audition scene on your phone and send me? I did that and then I read the script, my character is so interesting! I immediately said yes to the project. Every character in the show is very important for the main narrative and I think there comes good writing. For a good show, even one character in one episode also can create a huge impact. Our show is one of such."
In the show, the actress is playing a close friend of the female protagonist Liz, played by Ridhi Dogra.
The show Badtameez Dil is set in London and revolves around Karan and Liz who has very opposite thoughts and belief on love and how their world collides with each other.
Asked about what kept her away from the limelight for so long, the actress said, "I really do not have a substantial answer to that. In any creative field sometimes it happens that things will not work in your favour at all and as an actor, you cannot really control that. In cinema and web series, financial stakes are really high and nothing really is in my control; if and when something works, it works. We do not know why it works and why the other one isn't...that unpredictability is just there. Perhaps that is why I do not know why I disappeared but the reason I am doing this show is, it's such a fun character! She is quite the opposite of who I am as a person and that's fun, playing someone who I am not."
The 10-episode web series, produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, also starring Mallika Dua, releases on Amazon miniTV on June 9.
