Most young actors maintain a certain image on social media. While this is common, Asur 2 actor Gaurav Arora spoke to us about why all the advances in technology are not necessarily good for human minds.
The actor has appeared in films like Love Games and Raaz: Reboot, the web series Broken But Beautiful, and the anthology Kaali Peeli Tales.
In Asur 2, he plays Kesar Bharadwaj, who is an astrologer and a motivational speaker.
Talking about how technology is controlling human minds, Gaurav told OTTplay, "While we believe that the advancement of technology helps make our lives easier, we must ask ourselves if this really is true. Yes, by following Google Maps, we can reach our destination easily, but by using it, we are losing out on human interactions. By using social media and getting entertained there, we are isolating ourselves from reality and everything that is happening around us. I have seen people who live in the same house and are part of the same family who are so isolated that they do not know how the other person is really feeling."
He went on to add, "We have 50k followers on social media and thousands of people giving us compliments in the virtual world, but after a hard day, when you are home alone, are those people going to be there for you? How many non-judgmental people are there to support you when you are really low? We call the people in our virtual world Insta-family and such, but if you put your phone aside, where are they?"
The story of Asur revolves around a serial killer from the city of Banaras and how two people, Nikhil and Dhananjay, investigate a series of murders to find out who the killer is. The story intertwines Indian mythology and modern society.
Asur 2 also stars Barun Sobti and Arshad Warsi and is available to stream on JioCinema.
