Director Arun Gopy, who had previously helmed Ramaleela and Pranav Mohanlal’s Irupathiyonnam Noottaandu, is all set to team up with Dileep again in his next, OTTplay has exclusively learnt.
The upcoming movie will be scripted by Udaykrishna, who has co-written the screenplays for several Dileep-starrers over the years including CID Moosa, Darling Darling, Karyasthan and Avatharam.
Talking to OTTplay, Udaykrishna, who has written the script for Mohanlal’s upcoming film Aaraattu, says, “My next film will be a Dileep-starrer with Arun Gopy. The script for the movie is already complete. It’s a ‘mass’ entertainer, very much in line with the movies that I do.”
Arun and Dileep previously teamed up for Ramaleela, a political thriller that was scripted by Sachy. The release of the 2017 film was delayed after the actor was arrested for conspiracy to kidnap and sexually assault an actress.
The film was produced by Mulakuppadam films, which had also backed Udaykrishna’s Pulimurugan and Arun Gopy’s second film Iruthiyonnam Noottaandu in 2019. The latter also marked Pranav Mohanlal’s sophomore effort as a lead actor and was panned for its predictable storyline.
Meanwhile, Dileep was last week granted anticipatory bail for the conspiracy case against the police. The trial for the actress assault case will also be in the minds of the producers of the upcoming Arun Gopy film while deciding when the movie goes on floors.
Incidentally, Aarattu filmmaker B Unnikrishnan also has a big-budget film with Dileep in the pipeline, however, the director has decided to go ahead with the film only after the verdict of the trials. Udaykrishna is currently working on the script for a Mammootty-starrer that will be helmed by Unnikrishnan next.
Dileep, whose last film Kesu Ee Veedinte Nadhan was released directly on Disney+ Hotstar, has also completed shooting for Rafi’s Voice of Sathyanathan. The movie, which is touted to be a comedy family drama, also has Joju George and Veena Nandakumar as part of the cast.
