Whether it is his character Navin Kumar in the much-celebrated web show Maharani, or Brajesh Bhan in Jamtara - Sabka Number Ayega - Amit Sial is one of those talents who never failed to impress the audience with his striking screen presence and skilled performance.
In Jamtara, he is playing Brajesh Bhan who is a businessman turned politician trying to control the phishing business that is successfully run by Sunny and Rockey, who are minting huge money.
In conversation with OTTplay, the actor takes us back to how the character has evolved from the first season to the latest one.
Amit Sial told OTTplay, " The first season of the show was all about exploring the character because we were trying to establish who Brajesh Bhan is and how he is one of the main players of the game."
Decoding the mind of the character, Amit shared, " When I read the script I remember telling Soumendra, he is such a psychopath! really! He is one of those men who finished his education from abroad, came back home to maintain the legacy he inherited from his forefathers and has no work to do except bullying these kids! really? He is so bored in his life that he found excitement from seeing a bunch of kids running phishing business successfully!"
This is not the first time when Amit played such grey characters on-screen who are morally incorrect. Asked about how, as an actor, he controls his moral compass when narrating such characters, he shared his key element of being an actor.
Talking more about his process, he said, "You know, I believe that as an actor I have to leave my morale at home to play a character. If I myself will start judging Bhijesh Bhan, how could I play him on-screen? I have to be in love with the character instead of being judgmental."
He further added, "I believe Brajesh Bhan is a self-obsessed narcissistic person. As an actor, I will never be able to play the character if I start judging or even behaving like him in reality. That, I think is the most exciting part of being a performer, the actor. For an actor that is the most rewarding part, because our job is to be honest with our performance, on whatever is offered to us. I will, through my performance, convince you that I am Brajesh Bhan of Jamtara."
The web series Jamtara Season 2 is directed by Soumendra Padhi, written by Trishant Srivastava, also starring - Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sparsh Shrivastav, Anshumaan Pushkar, Monika Panwar, Seema Pahwa, Ravi Chahal - streaming on Netflix.
