Seeing oneself on big screen is every actor's dream but with the sudden boom of OTT, many are living their dreams on small screens as well. Actor Dinker Sharma, who plays Kirti Azad in the upcoming Ranveer Singh-starrer 83, says he has also grown and evolved as an actor watching films on big screens. As a student of cinema at FTII, watching films on big screens every evening has been a part of his curriculum and hence, he says exclusively to OTT that he was surprised by the reach of OTT.
Sharma's last film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar was released on Amazon Prime Video after a brief theatrical release. He says, "When it was released in cinemas after the pandemic, nobody watched it. All the actors were disheartened. When the film came on OTT, suddenly, there were lot of appreciation for the film. That is when I released the reach of OTT." The comedy drama film also starred Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta, Jaideep Ahlawat and Arjun Kapoor. It follows the story of a corporate employee and suspended police officer who become witnesses to a crime and have to stay together to outrun the culprits who are after their lives.
Sharma adds that OTT has the ability to tell new stories for wider audiences. "OTT offers fresh and challenging projects with great writing, performances and direction." Sharma has also played a part in Delhi Crime. But he does not really mind the medium he gets to work on. He says, "I just would like to do good roles and work with good directors. I would like to explore myself as an actor as much as possible."
